Welcome to Fetcham Village Infant School
Everything you need to help your child join us
A message from the Headteacher
We are absolutely delighted that your child will be joining us at Fetcham Village Infant School. Starting school is one of the biggest milestones in your child's life, and we want to make the transition as smooth and joyful as possible. The forms on this page help us get to know your child, gather the information we need to keep them safe and happy, and prepare for their first day.
If you have any questions at any point, please don't hesitate to contact the school office on 01372 373502 or email info@fetcham.surrey.sch.uk. We look forward to meeting you both very soon.
Simon Sharp, Headteacher

Preparing for school
You can help your child get ready for school by encouraging:
- •Independence with dressing – especially shoes and coats
- •Using the toilet independently
- •Eating lunch with a knife and fork
- •Recognising their own name
- •Sharing and taking turns
- •Talking about feelings and emotions
Don't worry if your child isn't doing all of these yet – we'll support them every step of the way!
Settling in
In September, Reception children have a gentle start to help them settle in:
- •Shorter days in the first week or two
- •Small group starts so teachers can focus on each child
- •Plenty of play-based learning to build confidence
- •Regular communication with parents about how your child is settling
