Attendance & Absence

Every day counts

Back to Parents

Why Attendance Matters

Good attendance is essential for your child's learning and wellbeing. Children who attend school regularly:

  • Make better progress in their learning
  • Build stronger friendships
  • Feel more settled and confident
  • Develop good habits for the future

Our target: 97% attendance

Missing just one day a week means your child misses 20% of their learning.

Reporting Absence

If your child is unwell and cannot attend school, please contact us by 9:00am on each day of absence:

Leave a message

If calling before office hours, leave a voicemail

Please provide your child's name, class, and reason for absence.

Term-Time Holidays

The Headteacher cannot authorise any holidays during term time except in exceptional circumstances. Taking your child out of school during term time:

  • Disrupts their learning and routine
  • May result in a Fixed Penalty Notice (fine)
  • Will be recorded as an unauthorised absence

Please plan family holidays during the school holidays. Term dates are published well in advance on our website.

Medical Appointments

Where possible, please arrange routine medical and dental appointments outside of school hours. If your child does need to attend an appointment during school time:

  • Inform the school office in advance
  • Collect your child from the school office
  • Return them to school after the appointment if possible
