A Governor has 3 core functions:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  2. Holding the head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

In broad terms these form the criteria by which Governing Bodies are assessed during OFSTED inspections

Our Governing Body is made up of representatives from Parents, Staff, Local Community and the Local Authority and consists of three sub-committees:

  1. Resources
  2. Teaching and Learning
  3. Community and Welfare

The Committee Terms of Reference are listed as separate documents.

Governors also take responsibility for key areas:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Special Needs
  • Computing
  • Science
  • Child Protection
  • Children in Care
  • Health and Safety
  • Data
  • Premises and Lettings
